A PACKED programme of outdoor events and activities will take place at a community centre in Horndean next week.
Families, parents and children have been urged to have some ‘Fun in the Park’ next Tuesday in the grounds of Merchistoun Hall.
Members of the Rural Areas Play Project (RAPP) will provide a lawn full of toys and crafty sessions throughout the morning.
Participants will be shown how to build dens and create natural art while exploring the 4.5 acres of grounds during the afternoon.
The event, which will begin at 10am and will also include a barbecue, is being overseen by hall manager Brendan Charles.
He said: “We are hoping for glorious weather but, just to be on the safe side, we will have two large marquees up so rain or shine we’ve got the weather covered.”
The first Fun in the Park event which took place at the Portsmouth Road venue was a huge success and attracted more than 200 people.
Mr Charles is hoping for an even bigger turnout this time around as the only charges at the free event will be for the refreshments.
No booking is required and plenty of on-site parking will be available. For more details call Merchistoun Hall on 023 9259 7144 or visit their website at www.merchistounhall.btck.co.uk
The Fun in the Park event isn’t the only RAPP activity taking place in the southern parishes this summer as Lovedean village hall will host two events next Friday, August 18.
Children aged four to 11 will be given the chance to make their own musical instruments between 10am and noon, while they can also try their hand at decoupage between 1pm and 3pm.
Youngsters aged seven to 11 will be given an introduction to graffiti art between 10am and 3pm in Clanfield Scout Hut on August 24. Visit www.easthants.gov.uk/rapp
