TWO OF the best country parks in the country, if not the world, are within four miles of Horndean.
That’s the claim of Hampshire County Council (HCC) as both Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Staunton Country Park have been awarded Green Flags.
The country parks are two of the five in Hampshire which have been awarded the accolade by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
Parks that receive the benchmark award boast the highest possible environmental standards, are well-maintained and have excellent visitor facilities.
“We’re delighted that our popular country parks have once again been recognised as world-class open spaces,” said Cllr Andrew Gibson, HCC executive member for culture, recreation and countryside. “Our staff, volunteers and partners are rightly proud of this excellent achievement.”
Green Flags were also awarded to Manor Farm and River Hamble Country Park, Lepe Country Park and Royal Victory Country Park.
