Winning starts for Horndean and Alresford Town

HORNDEAN got their Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division campaign off to the perfect start with a dramatic 2-1 win at Fareham Town.

Ash Howes gave the Deans an early lead, and Dan Sackman added the second to give Horndean a 2-0 advantage at half time.

There was drama in the second half as Fareham were given a penalty and Horndean’s Ian Humble was sent off.

Simon Woods scored the resulting penalty to make it 2-1 and get Fareham back in the game.

Tom Froggatt was sent off for the hosts late on, and Horndean held on to claim the three points.

Alresford Town also got their Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division campaign off to a winning start, with an impressive 1-0 victory at AFC Portchester.
