Rain did not dampen Liphook summer show

BRAMSHOTT, Liphook and District Horticultural Society held its summer show in Liphook Church Centre.

The show secretaries were pleased with the number of entries and the number of people attending the show.

The church centre was full with colour and the scent of sweet peas and lilies.

Terry Burns won the silver medal of the National Vegetable Society and the Halahan Best Exhibit Cup, both for his six runner beans.

The society’s secretary, Ann Haussauer, swept the board in the floral classes, winning all four prizes for her sweet peas along with the John Caesar Challenge Cup for the best exhibit in the cut flower class, the Halahan Challenge Cup for being the most successful in the floral classes and the Banksian Medal for winning the most prize money.

Carole West won the medal of the National Rose Society for the best exhibit in the rose classes. Other winners were Sally White, Ian Haussauer, Katrina Bicknell, Helen Brown, Frances Town-Jones and John Gilbert.

Sisters Chloe and Sarah Bicknell were joint winners of the Hugh Coyte Trophy.
